Soluble paracetamol or co-codamol should normally form the basis of treatment for radiation mucositis. Antacid with oxetacaine can be added to this. Sucralfate suspension may be used as an alternative.
Antacid and oxetacaine (unlicensed special from Rosemont)
- Suspension 10ml four times a day
Biotene Moisturising Mouthwash
- See section 12.3.5 Treatment of dry mouth
Biotene Oral Balance gel

Betamethasone 500mcg soluble tablet (unlicensed indication)
- Dissolve one tablet in 10ml water, use for 2 minutes, three times a day. Do not swallow.
