Glucosamine and chondroitin

Following national guidance from NHS England, glucosamine and chondroitin are not recommended for use due to lack of evidence of efficacy. Click here for more information. Prescribers should not initiate glucosamine and/or chondroitin for any new patient. Patients currently being prescribed the drug should be reviewed and treatment stopped. Click the following link for a patient information leaflet to support deprescribing. Patients who wish to take glucosamine may purchase it over-the-counter.
