This information provides guidance on the management of imaging referrals across North Devon during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Due to changes in waiting areas and compliance with social distancing, Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust are withdrawing the walk-in service for GPs in Radiology.
They will continue with an appointment service only.
Any Radiology imaging requests should be either forwarded by:
a) post
b) generic email: ndht.nddhradiologyrequests@nhs.net until further notice. Radiology will then contact the patients to make appointments.
Please indicate on the requests if 2 week rule, urgent or routine.

Liaison consultant radiologist is running as usual weekdays 09:00 – 16:00 for advice.
Bideford and Ilfracombe X-ray departments are closed.
Most 2WW pathways are running in modified forms through specialties.
We will continue to accept 2WW referrals direct from primary care for previously agreed pathways such as possible brain tumour.
Urgent X-rays only.
Urgent CXR for non-COVID indications will be accepted.
Fracture assessment if there is a clear management plan following diagnosis.
Routine joint pain query osteoarthritis (OA) etc. cannot be performed at present.

Significantly limited service. Spines accepted only for red flag symptoms/?cancer as 2WW.
Routine requests cannot be accepted at present. "Lumps and bumps" should be kept under clinical review and referred to Sarcoma service if high clinical suspicion.
Antenatal and Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic (EPAC) running as normal.
Routine requests for all imaging modalities cannot be accepted at present.
There is limited capacity for outpatient imaging and referrals are prioritised but there is no guarantee how long this service will be maintained during the current crisis.
