Concentrated potassium chloride injection use is restricted to certain specialist clinical areas- see local trust policy for information on supply, storage and administration.

9.2.2.2 Plasma and plasma substitutes

Plasma substitutes are used acutely for low plasma volume associated with septicaemia, burns and other conditions.

Caution: Anaphylactoid reactions may occur. Dextrans may interfere with blood grouping and some biochemical tests.
