Pilocarpine tends to be used as add on therapy. A darkly pigmented iris will tend to require treatment with higher strength products.
Pilocarpine
- Eye drops (as hydrochloride) 1%, 2%, 4% (£30.63 = 2% x 10ml)
- Single use preservative free eye drops (as nitrate) 2% (£13.74 = 20 x 0.5ml unit dose)
Dose
- Apply up to 4 times daily
Notes
- Caution: Ciliary spasm, cicatrizing conjunctivitis. Systemic absorption may cause sweating, bradycardia, intestinal colic, hypersalivation and bronchospasm.
