Cutimed Sorbact Ribbon

Indications

  • All types of deep or cavity wound showing signs of infection

Notes

  1. Suitable for fungal infection in the groin, skin folds or between digits

Cutimed Sorbact Swabs

(Low adherence acetate wound contact layer impregnated with dialkylcarbamoyl chloride)

Indications

  • Primary dressing for contaminated, colonised or infected superficial or deep wounds including superficial wounds.

Notes

  1. Suitable for fungal infection in the groin, skin folds or between digits.
  2. The dressing can be used folded or unfolded – 4 x 6cm (11 x 16cm unfolded) 7 x 9cm (17 x 27cm unfolded)
  3. Change frequency/ wear time = up to 7 days

Polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) containing dressings

Wound dressings containing PHMB have been shown to reduce microbial counts within the wound and are indicated for the treatment of critically colonised or infected wounds.

The use of PHMB has specific contraindications , PHMB must not be used:

  • For peritoneal lavage or for antiseptic/antimicrobial joint lavage (cartilage toxicity)
  • In applications involving any part of the central nervous system, including the meninges, and intralumbal applications
  • For applications involving the middle or inner ear, or for intraocular applications
  • During pregnancy
  • In patients allergic to PHMB
Suprasorb X + PHMB

(Biosynthetic cellulose fibre dressing with polyhexamethylene biguanide 0.3%)

  • 5 x 5cm (£2.83), 9 x 9cm (£5.63), 14 x 20cm (£12.80)

Indications

  • Light to moderately exuding, non-infected superficial and deep wounds, including leg ulcers of various aetiologies, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, partial-thickness burns, postoperative wounds, skin donor sites and skin graft sites

Notes

  1. Can be cut or folded to the shape/size of the wound
  2. Provides a moist environment and cooling effect which may be perceived as soothing
  3. Change frequency/ wear time = up to 7 days
Kendall AMD

(Foam dressing with polyhexamethylene biguanide 0.5%, without adhesive border)

Indications

  • For use in management of post-surgical incisions, pressure ulcers, venous insufficiency ulcers, diabetic ulcers, donor sites, abrasions, lacerations, first- and second-degree burns, dermatologic disorders, other wounds inflicted by trauma and as a secondary dressing or cover dressing for packed wounds

Notes

  1. Fenestrated dressings can be used around PEG/catheter/tracheostomy sites where critically colonising wounds are suspected
  2. Change frequency/ wear time = up to 7 days

Flaminal Hydro

(Enzyme alginate gel with glucose oxidase and lactoperoxidase)

Indications

  • Lightly to moderately exuding acute and chronic wounds

Notes

  1. Debrides the wound and manages moisture balance
  2. Can be used on a wide range of wound types and at every stage of healing
  3. Change frequency / wear time = 15g, 1 to 4 days dependant on exudate levels
Flaminal Forte 

(Enzyme alginate gel with glucose oxidase and lactoperoxidase)

Indications

  • Moderately to heavily exuding acute and chronic wounds

Irrigation and cleansing

Octenilin Irrigation Solution 

(Wound irrigation solution containing a combination of octenidine hydrochloride and ethylhexylglycerin)

Indication

  • Suitable for removal of wound crusts consisting of necrotic tissue, biofilm and fibrinous films

Notes

  1. Can also be used for moistening wounds, wound dressings and wound pads
  2. Not intended to be injected under pressure into the tissue or to be allowed into the blood circulation
  3. For short term use only. Not suitable for repeat prescription
Octenilin Wound Gel

(Wound gel containing a combination of hydrogel and octenidine hydrochloride)

Indication

  • Suitable for cleansing, moistening and decontamination of chronic skin wounds and to support the natural healing process

Notes

  1. Do not use on hyaline cartilage
  2. Exposure time of 5 minutes is sufficient to remove a biofilm
Octenisan Antimicrobial Wash Mitts

(Fleecy, soft wash mitts containing octenidine hydrochloride, phenoxyethanol and allantoin)

  • Single use wash mitts (£4.29 = 8 mitts)

Indications

  • For cleansing the periwound area to minimise risk of infection
  • For bedside washing of the whole body

Notes

  1. Suitable for patients who are bedridden or have limited mobility. Use one mitt per body area
  2. Colour- and perfume-free
  3. Leave impregnation solution on skin for at least 30 seconds; rinsing with water afterwards is not necessary
  4. Do not use in combination with products containing povidone-iodine (PVP-I)
  5. For short term use only. Not suitable for repeat prescription
